Electrical discharge machining removes metal using controlled sparks rather than a rotating cutter. For mould and die work, this opens up geometry that conventional machining simply cannot produce.

Sharp internal corners, deep thin ribs, narrow slots and intricate details in hardened steel are classic EDM territory. Many plastic part designs depend on exactly these features, which is why EDM capability is central to serious mould manufacturing.

EDM is also a precision process in its own right. Electrode quality, machining parameters and flushing conditions all influence accuracy and surface finish. Treated casually, EDM produces recast layers and poor detail; treated properly, it produces crisp, clean geometry ready for fitting.

Combined with CNC machining and tool room fitting, EDM completes the manufacturing chain needed to build injection moulds and dies with confidence.
